English Language Learners‘ Perception of PLP Experiences in Preparation to Become Prospective English Teachers
This study aims to explore the perception of 7th-semester students of the
English Language Education study program at PGRI Kanjuruhan University
Malang towards their experiences while undergoing the school field introduction
program (PLP). PLP is an important part of the formation of teacher competencies
because it provides direct experience in teaching practices in the school
environment. The background of this research is based on the importance of the
readiness of prospective teachers in facing challenges in the field, especially in
terms of classroom management, communication with students, and adaptation to
the school environment. The objective of this study is to identify students'
perceived challenges during the PLP program, and to analyse how these
experiences contributed to their preparedness for future teaching roles
This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection
techniques through open questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 25
students who have implemented PLP. The data was analyzed using thematic
methods to find the main patterns and themes that emerged from the participants'
answers. The main focus of this research includes three aspects, namely students'
perception of the PLP experience, the challenges they face, and their readiness as
prospective English teachers who have done the program.
