Reading allows students to learn great deal information. Reading is the
language skill which learners usually find the most difficult. They felt under
pressure to understand the meaning of each set of words, paragraphs, and
sentences if they cannot comprehend the text. The teacher has an important role to
to choose the approriate methods and techniques to attract students’ motivation in
improving reading skills.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of using
Scaffolding strategy applied in Quizizz web to improve reading skills and to know
there is any significant difference between those who are not taught by using
Scaffolding strategy but still applied in Quizizz web. this research was a quasiexperimental research design. The research was conducted at Universitas PGRI
Kanjuruhan Malang. The population of this research was the second-semester
reading class. The researcher divided the class into two group which the first
group was experimental group with 18 students, and control group with 18
students. The analysis techniques used independent t-test. The data collection used
pre-test and post-test.
The result of this research shows that there is a significant difference of
students’s reading skill between both experimental and control group. It can be
seen from the mean score in the post-test of experimental group and control
group. the mean score of experimental group is higher then score of control group
(86.1 < 72.2). I tis proved by the result of hypothesis testing through independent
sample T-Test. The significant value (2-tailed) of 0.001 is less than 0.05, which
means that the result of this research are considered to have significant difference.
The researcher concluded that the scaffolding strategy was effective in improving
their reading skill. It has proved that this strategy get positive impacts such as
making it easier for them to read quickly and understand the contents of the text
easier. The researcher hoped that the use of Scaffolding strategy applied in
Quizizz web can give benefit to anyone who read it.
