The Effect Of English Accent Familiarity and Listening Motivation on Listening Comprehension At Senior High School In Malang
The ability to understand various accents, dialects, and speaking styles is
becoming increasingly important in the global aspect. Students have difficulties
understanding the pronunciation of native speakers, particularly British Accents.
Because students in Indonesia is more exposed or familiar to American English than
British English. Unfamiliarity with accent sounds when listening will decrease
students' motivation. This will affect the score results of students' listening
comprehension.
This research examines the influence of English Accent Familiarity and
listening Motivation on Listening Comprehension, particularly focusing on the
British Accent. Employing a cross-sectional research design and multiple linear
regression analysis, the research involved 125 tenth-grade students in SMA 1
Kepanjen as participants.
The findings results showsthat : (1) English Accent Familiarity significantly
affects listening comprehension, as indicated by a significance value of 0,003
