Lecturer-Students’ Interaction during Teaching and Learning Process of Reading Comprehension at English Education Study Program of Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang
Teaching and learning activities typically require both the lecturer and
students to meet and interact in the classroom. However, the learning process is
often lecturer-centered, where the lecturer dominates instruction while students
adopt a more passive role. This study aims to identify the interaction patterns and
classroom exchanges implemented by the lecturer and students during the
interpretative reading comprehension course. Additionally, it focuses on the
reasons behind the use of certain interaction patterns and exchanges by the
lecturer during the teaching and learning process.
The study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The researcher collected
data through observations and interviews. Observations were conducted during
four meetings of the teaching and learning process, supported by observation
checklists and field notes. Additionally, interviews were conducted with the
lecturer to understand the reasons behind the use of classroom interaction patterns
and exchanges.
