Errors Analysis On University Students Writing in the Second Semester of English Education Derpartment of Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang
English is one of the international languages that holds significant
importance. As a foreign language, students in Indonesia need to engage in deep
learning to master it. However, due to the differences in vocabulary between
English and Indonesian, students often face difficulties. One of the most common
difficulties is making errors in writing English texts. This is due to the difference
in vocabulary used in writing and reading. Therefore, the researcher is interested
in conducting a study on writing English texts focusing on Surface strategy
taxonomy, categorizing errors into the four types identified by Sohono and Jems
(2016): addition, omission, misformation, and misordering. The research focusing
on: (1) What are the types of errors students make in writing English texts? (2)
What source of errors are dominantly happens, transfer Interlingual or transfer
Intralingual?
To answer that question, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative
method, because the data were analyzed based on test results, interviews, and
documentation rather than numbers.
