Forms and Functions of Slang Words Used By The Characters In The Deadpool 1 movie.

This research aims to determine the forms of slang words and the functions of slang words used by the characters in the film Deadpool 1, both protagonists and antagonist characters. To conduct this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research methods. The researcher collected data by taking data from watching the film Deadpool and the researcher analyzed data using theories from Yule (2006) and Yanchun and Yanhong (2013) theories.The findings from this research are that there are 6 forms of slang words out of the 20 words found, namely blending, clipping, compounding, acronym, backformation, multiple processes and there are 2 functions, namely to express the emotional feelings of slang users and to achieve politeness. Compounding is the form of slang word most often found. And the function to express the emotional feelings of slang users is the function most often found in the Deadpool 1movie. The research implication of the film Deadpool 1 is the need to examine more deeply the influence of slang words in creating an atmosphere of humor and harmony in communication. The character Wade as a Deadpool is depicted as a superhero who has a silly nature, while the characters Vanessa, Wase, Francis, AL are supporting characters for the development of the Deadpool film characters. This film inspires to explore the role of slang words as a key element in creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere in everyday conversations. Therefore, this research can focus more on how the use of slang words can influence conversation dynamics, show elements of humor and support harmonious communication between individuals. The researcher suggests that this research can be used as reference for the future research to analyze slang words movie deeper and more completely. This research only focuses on forms and functions of slangs words in the Deadpool 1 movie, hopefully further research can continue research with another movie. Not only in films, the researcher also suggest research on other platforms such as social media, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, or songs.
