Associative Meaning in Oriflame Brochure
Associative meaning is the unstable meaning which is occurred because of the variations of individual experiences. The speaker's background, experience, and culture have a significant impact on associative meaning in addition to language use. Since associative meaning can change depending on the human perspective, it can occasionally be difficult for the reader or listener to understand the true meaning of words or utterances that contain it.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative research design. Descriptive qualitative is a study that does not use statistical analysis procedures or other quantitative methods to produce analytical procedures.. The researcher conducted research by Oriflame Brochure "Oriflame Brochure" several times and also reading the Brochure product. The researcher processed the data in the form of the Brochure from the Oriflame product. Three instruments were used in this study which included: key instrument, data analyzing, documentation. The process of data analysis included data reduction, data display, conclusion/verification and triangulation. The data gathered were then verified by an expert validator. This research aims to find the meaning of associative meaning in Oriflame brochure in every promotion of the product Oriflame.
The results of this research found that the most frequent type of associative meaning found in the data is connotative meaning with 7 data and affective meaning with 6 data, followed by collocative meaning and 1 data, reflected meaning with 1data and the last is stylistic meaning with 1 data. Although the connotative, affective, reflective, and collocative meanings of the associative meanings found in the Oriflame brochure vary depending on the context, it is important to note that the advertiser or author of the Oriflame brochure constructed the associative meanings in the Oriflame brochure to attract, give the
readers a special sense, and pique their curiosity.
In conclusion, the researcher hopes that these associative meanings can be applied in our daily teaching in the class. The researcher also suggested for many
people such as English teachers to use literary work as a teaching resource, for the students, this brochure can be accepted as an example, and for the readers, hopefully, these findings can be implemented as a directive in daily life. Therefore, it is suggested for future researchers who are interested in literary
works analyze different aspects. As this research focused on associative meaning in the brochure Oriflame and the analysis of the meaning of the brochure, future research can be conducted to analyse other literary works.
