Improving Junior High School Students’ Grammar Using Interactive Notebook
Interactive Notebook is a notebook that has two sides for different functions whereas it allows students to systematically organize information as they learn which helps them to review the teacher's discussion, based on Wist (2006) Interactive notebook also helps teachers to plan lessons.
The design used in this study was classroom action research using a qualitative and quantitative approach that collecting the data by interviewing, giving a test, observational checklist, and questionnaire. The sample of this study was ninth-grader of SMPKr. Aletheia Malang. The result showed that the students’ grammar was improved after the implementation of the Interactive Notebook. The students’ achievement of the test passed the standard score which 78% from 27 students. The result of the observation checklist showed 78% from 75% criteria of success which concluded that the observation checklist was successful and the result of the questionnaire showed 83% the students gave positive response.
This study is expected for English teachers would able to implement Interactive Notebook as an instructional medium in approaching grammar teaching-learning. In addition, the finding is also contributed to the further researcher that may use the Interactive Notebook in any kinds of research in the future with the different subject of the study.
