The Motivation of Learning of Employee Students in English Department at PGRI Kanjuruhan University
This research is purposed to investigate the learning motivation of employee students to determine the reason which encourage them as an employment and a student and to find out their strategies to overcome the challenges in working while studying. This research was conducted by using Descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research was to find out the motivation of learning of employee students at PGRI Kanjuruhan University. There were two subjecys involved in this study, they were employee students (N=13) and the English lecturer (N=1). In collecting the data two instrument were used, they are conducting interviews and distributing questionnaire. The data analysis procedures in collecting and arranging the data are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, namely the three con-current flows activity. The findings through the three con-currents flows activity obtained that the employee students have extrinsic motivation during learning. The factors which supported the motivation are the English skill is the requirement capability for their career and mastering English to get a current goal in their work places. The achievement achieved by employee students during studying while working was good and they have excellent English skill even they have a really tight schedule. The obstacles during learning while working was the difficultty in managing time. Some obstacles occured in their work places were the activities were crashed in the same time and in some situation the employee students missed the lecturing because of work overtime. The obstacle occured in the class was the employee students were exhausted and tend to passive after doing a tight schedule in couple days. Some attemps have been made in order to cope with the obstacles. Those attemps includes creating a list schedule to manage all activities, and in the class the English lecturer provide a different treatment towards employee students such as a current approach and giving motivations.
