The Analysis Of Learning Demotivation Factor Of Employee Students In English Education Departement
Motivation is an important factor that is instrumental in successfully carrying out any activity and its significance is highlighted widely by a growing mass of motivational studies conducted in the field of second as well as foreign language learning contexts.
The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not the factors of English learning demotivation among employee students in English Department in PGRI Kanjuruhan University. Besides that the researcher also studied about the External and Internal factor of demotivation in learning English. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. The data collected for this study were gathered from the survey by using questionnaire into Google form. The data about External and Internal factor of demotivation were analyzed.
The result findings of this study concluded that employee students felt demotivation because of factor which were two main categories of demotivation: internal factors (lack of intrinsic interest, experience of failure and lack of confidence, and unclear study goal) and external factors (teaching material, teaching process and teaching content, teachers’ teaching competence and attitude of teachers, the relationship between teachers and students, teaching facilities and teaching environment). External factors are found to be more influential than internal ones in the participants’ demotivation to learn English. The current study adds to the literature in that unclear study goal is an important demotivation in university of PGRI Kanjuruhan students’ English study. The findings of this study will enrich the research of demotivation to learn English, and to provide an empirical basis for the needs analysis in English class and curriculum reform, as well as to provide reference for implementing central and local education policies.
Based on the findings of this study the researcher suggested that both English teachers and educational institution should concern and need to pay attention to the teaching methods they apply into their English class so that students could be motivated.
