An Analysis Of Educational And Moral Value In Coco Movie

The film is one of the beneficial environmental medium to convey messages and value, many films contains moral as well as educational content. One of those films is “Coco” as it focuses on the life of family with the rich of cultural settings that contains many life values. It is necessary to conduct study on the positive moral and educational value contained in this movie. This study aims to identify the moral and educational value in the “Coco” movie as the research problems.
This study analyzes the value contained in the movie through qualitative corpus analysis method. The data were originated directly from Coco movie script and collected in the form of corpus table containing character, time, events, theory as well as analysis and presented using the corpus table. The data then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s (1994) method of qualitative analysis that consist of reduction, coding, classification, presentation, verification and conclusion.
The result shows that the movie “Coco” contains many positive moral values as the movie plot and story that revolve around the family life. The present of many values proves that the movie “Coco” rich of moral messages and examples that have positive influence towards viewer’s morality. Additionally, the movie also contains education value. e that is shown in many aspects of the film that presented both from the characters such as scene and dialogue as well as the plot and setting of the movie that rich of cultural and spiritual value. Having all aspects of educational value as well as many moral values, the movie “Coco” can be considered as the film with good educational as well as moral content. It is suggested to conduct study deeper about educational value in the movie and relate to the moral value existed in the movie. It is also suggested to relate the values with the plot, setting, scene and the character of the movie.
