An Analysis Of Class Management And Interaction In Teaching English
Classroom management is a very important for all teachers to make students pleasurable, organized, attractive, and respectful classroom environment. Managing the class can have a good impact on the students’ academic performance. While the lesson is being taught, the teacher also has to build a good interaction with students in the classroom. With a good interaction, it can increase the confidence of the students to express their creativity and idea in the classroom. The aims of this research is to determine the strategy of classroom management used by lecturers in teaching English and to know the students’ respond to lecturer interactions in teaching English.
This research uses a descriptive qualitative method to observe the teaching and learning process for English lecturers’ classroom management and interaction in teaching English at 2019 intake at PGRI Kanjuruhan University of Malang. Overall, the classroom management used by leturers in teaching English is running well and optimal. The lecturer applies the good strategies, susch as organization, behavioral consideration, instructional strategies, social climate, and physical arrangement.Futhermore, the respond of the students in interaction with the lecturer is good. The lecturers used an attractive and interesting media in teaching, so the students can enjoy the lesson.
The result of this research maybe can enrich the knowledge and useful for lecturers, students, and also for the other researchers who will conduct the same topic with this study. For the lecturers, they have successfully implemented well the learning strategies in the classroom, it is expected that lecturers will continue to maintain the effective and efficient classroom management and interaction in order to set a good example for other lecturers. For the students, they have to be more active in learning English at the class, and have to make a good interaction not just with the other students but also the lecturer. And for the future researcher, the results of this study may be useful as a reference related to the strategy used by lecturers in managed the classroom management and interaction in teaching English.
