An Analysis Of Japanese Language Speech Level On Mahouka Koukou No Rettousel Animation Series

This research analyzed about the speech level of Japanese language on Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. The researcher analyzed the speech level because of the speech level did in the characters of the series with high school life on animation series and where some teenager community such as otaku,people who loves to watched japan series did not know in detail about the speech level type of Japanese language and in this modern era the teenager and youth society rarely to used speech level or honorific language in conversation. This research categorized about the types of speech level and function of speech level. The researcher used theory of Japanese speech level by Hama and Hirabayashi (1992) cited in Alderson, J. Charles & Wall(1992) and theory of keigo’s function by Hinata Shigeo (2000) cited in (Astami, 2010). This research analyzed by the researcher to found and categorize the type and function of speech level.The design was descriptive qualitative content analysis.The subject of the research is type of Japanese speech level and the function of speech level. The instrument was the researcher. The triangulation used was a method triangulation. Then the researcher validate the data by consult with the expert who was graduated in Japan literature study and her recent activity as a lecturer in University Kanjuruhan of Malang.The results of the research were follows. First, the researcher found three main types of Japanese speech level on 1st episode until 5th episode used by the main and supporting characters with 135 numbers. Teineigo (polite styles) is the highest percentage with (53%), sonkeige (honorific styles) the second position with (42%) and the last is kenjougo (humble style) with (5%) of data. Second, it wasabout function of speech level. The function of Japanese speech level has found by the researcher were three functions. There were to show respect to others who has the highest status, to express polite utterances and the last to limit the distance between speaker and addressee.The results of this research expected to help students and lecturers inlearning. And became the references for reader to get to know about speech level.
