Characterization Analysis Of The Main Character In Autobiography Novel The Story Of My Life By Helen Adams Keller

This study aims to identify and analyze the character and characterization, and the main factors that influence the changes behavior of Helen Adams Keller. This data is collected from the story about Helen Adams Keller in the novel "The Story of My Life". Then, this data is also collected through other media such as the internet and other literary books related to this research. This study only focuses on the character and characterization of the main character as well as the factors that influence the development of Helen Adams Keller's characterization in the novel “The Story of My Life”.
The research design used in this study is descriptive qualitative, it means that in this study, the researcher does not use numbers but the researcher uses books, notes, and pictures of documentation to find and complete the result of this research regarding the characterization of the two main characters, and the factors that influence the characterization development of Helen Adams Keller in the novel "The Story of My Life".
The results of this study indicate that the most dominant characterization of Helen Adams Keller in the novel "The Story of My Life" is open-minded, smart, kind-hearted, and confidence, and the most dominant characterization of Anne Sullivan in “The Story of My Life” novel is kind-heart, patient, and loyal. Then, the factors that influence the development characterization of Helen Adams Keller in this study are divided into two parts namely, external factors and internal factors. External factors include home education, school education, family and parenting style, and social environment. Then, the internal factors include internal motivation and encouragement.
This study is expected to be useful to the students in the English Literature Department who are interested in analyzing and dig deeper about the intrinsic elements in the novel, specifically the character and characterization in the novel, and for the next researcher who wants to make the research with the same topic or related to character and characterization in the novel.
