The Effectivensess Of Modeled Talk Strategy Towards Speaking Ability Of Erly Intermediate Efl Learners At Ma Darul Karomah Randuaung Singosari
This study aims at investigating the use of modeled strategy to improve the students’ speaking ability. This study used Quasi Experimental Research Design. This research was conducted in five meetings, and consisted of doing pre-test, doing treatments, and doing post-test. The researcher acted as the teacher when the technique was implemented. There were 30 students who were divided into two groups, control group and experimental group. Each group consisted of 15 students. The pre-tests are given to both groups before doing the treatment. After the treatment by using modeled talk strategy, the students were given post-test. The results indicate that the students in experimental group achieve higher mean score (70.33 vs 34.00) than those in the control group. From computation of independent sample t-test, it was known that t value = 11.019 was greater than 0.05, thus it could be summarized that the using of modeled talk strategy in teaching speaking at tenthgrade of MA Darul Karomah Singosari was found. In addition, based on significance (2-tailed), it showed that 0.000 which was lower than the significant level 0,05. In short, the students who were taught by using modeled talk strategy in teaching speaking had considerable difference from those who were not. It is concluded that modeled talk strategy can affect the students’ speaking ability. The result of observation checklist and questionnaire also support the result of tests. The result of observation checklist showed that modeled talk strategy applied well and indicates that this strategy could be applied to increase the students’ speaking ability. Then, the results of questionnaire showed that modeled talk strategy gets good response and perception from the students to affect their speaking ability.Therefore, it can be concluded that modeled talk strategy can affect the students’speaking ability.
