Improving Students Writing Skill In Narrative Text By Using Think Talk Strategy With The Use Of Audio Visual Media At First Grade In Vocation High School PGRI Pakisaji
Writing is a tool to communicate with others, which a writer can transform meaning, opinion, felling, ideas, thought, or others in written form. By writing the writer can convey and send the meanings to the reader. Apart from grammar and vocabulary, there are issues of letter, words, and text formations, manifested by handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation. Writing consists of four steps which are drafting, planning, editing and final draft.
The purpose of this research was to increase students’ writing skill in narrative text by using Think Talk Write strategy with the use of Audio Visual. The current studies had proved that this strategy was good in teaching writing. Therefore, the researcher decided to apply Think Talk Write strategy with the use of Audio Visual to improve students’ writing skill.
This study involved 27 students in First Grade students in Vocation High School PGRI Pakisaji. The data were gained from observation checklist, pre-test, post-test and
questionnaire the result From the pre-test score, 18 of 27 students at X.1 class got ≤75 the total score of pre-test are 1799 with the mean 66,62 or 66%. It showed that pre-test
score did not fulfil the criteria of success of learning (KKM) at the school. The criterion of success of learning (KKM) at Vocation High School PGRI Pakisaji is 75. Then, after
implementation of Think Talk Write strategy with the use of Audio Visual the result from score of post-test was all of students got ≥ 75 and total score of post-test was 2072
with the mean 76.00 or 76%. From the result it can be concluded that Think Talk Write strategy can improve students’ writing skill.
The researcher recommends this strategy to English teachers in teaching writing. It was proved that this strategy could improve students writing skill. It helps students to
explore and improve their idea, motivates them to learn and improves their skill on writing and makes the situation of teaching and learning process enjoyable, active, and
creative. Moreover, the result of this study will be useful as a valuable reference for the future researchers in using Think Talk Write Strategy to investigate other English skills
