An Analysis of Moral Value in "The Pursuit of Happyness" Movie

Literature is creative work which expresses feeling or idea based on real life, experience, knowledge and etc. Moral value is good and bad attitudes and behaviors that belong to every human being. Movie is one of the literature works shown on the screen or television, movie is also used as a media of education containing the message that has beneficial for the audience and every movie has message which is conveyed to the audience. This study aims to describe the moral value in “The Pursuit of Happyness” movie by Gabriele Muccino. In this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research to analyze and describe the moral value in “The Pursuit of Happyness” Movie. The data was taken from the script and the data source is from “The Pursuit of Happyness” movie. The instrument which is applied in this study are the researcher as a main instrument and documentation. The research used corpus to collect the data that it helps the researcher for getting better to analyze the moral values in this movie.
The result of the study showed that are a lot of moral values can be found in this movie, which are reflected to the characters life or attitudes and behaviour. The moral values found in “The Pursuit of Happyness” Movie are patience, friendly, responsible, belief, peace ability, optimistic, self-confident, love and affection, honesty and bravery, steadfastness, hard worker, and kind.
The researcher concluded that “The Pursuit of Happyness” Movie is a good movie that shares some moral values for the audience and gives motivation and inspiration for the audience. The researcher hopes that this research can help the students who want to learn literary subject. The researcher hopes that this research can be a reference to the further researcher who wants to conduct research.
