The Effectiveness Of Edmodo On Improving Students Writing Skiil SMKN 1 Singosari
For students, English learning is very important for them because mastering English mean that students can use English orally and in written form.
Writing is one of the most important skills in teaching English as a foreign language. It reflects the power of students in mastering writing technique, so the students need to be aware that writing is as a process and as a product as well. In this early part of the 21st century the range of the technologies available for use in language learning and teaching has become very diverse and the ways that they are being used in classrooms all over the world are digital tools and different micro blogging platform, have become central to language practice. It is a challenging idea to make students able to start writing and learning English online happily and successfully, using a website such as Edmodo. This website is a free and secure learning platform for teachers, students, and parents.
An investigation showed that, many students in High School had low of writing skill included the ten grade students in State Vocational High School 1
Singosari. Low students writing skill caused by some problems. They were students’ low motivation in reading, the students’ passive attitude, and plagiarism. Dealing with this research, the researcher tried to investigate the effectiveness of Edmodo on improving students’ writing skill at SMKN 1 Singosari. In conducting this research, the research design was quasi experimental research. The researcher applied pre-test and post-test, for both experimental and control group. The reseacher gave treatments for experimental group which was Edmodo as an innovative media for teaching learning activities. For the control group used traditional way in teaching learning activities. The researcher gave treatment six times for experimental group and control group.
The result score of experimental group was higher than control group (77,53 > 71,93) and Independent Samples Test showed that the result of t-test
was 4,822. So, the students who were taught by using Edmodo had better writing skill than those who were not taught by using Edmodo. Finally, the researcher suggests the English teacher be able to apply this method for teaching writing class based on the students’s motivation. The researcher also suggests to the next researchers to implement Edmodo to other language skill and can increase the student interested in learning English.
