Improving Speaking Competency Of The Eleventh Grade Student Of SMK Merdeka Lawang By Using Video
The aims of his research are to describe how is the procedural spoken by using free media can improve speaking competency at the eleventh grade of SMK Merdeka Lawang and what is the strength and weakness in using procedural spoken by using free media at eleventh grade students of SMK Merdeka Lawang. This research focused on improving students’ speaking skill. The reason why the researcher decided to choose this skill because the students were have some problems, for example; the students had lack of vocabulary when speaking practice in a front of class and got wrong pronunciation in producing words.
Based on this background, the research was conducted with the objective of this study was to describe how video can improve speaking competency at the eleventh grade students of SMK Merdeka Lawang. Regarding the problems above, thus the design of the study was classroom action research.
The result of his research showed that using video improved students’ speaking skill. It can be proved by the students’ mean score cycle I and cycle II of the students’ speaking skill of the class. From the test result, it can be seen that the class used video in teaching learning process is improve. It indicates that by using video, the students can improve their speaking skill effectively.
Thus, the result of questionnaire significantly proved that the students got problem in learning speaking about procedure text. They were need alternative media to improve their English speaking skill. Every student had different characteristic in learning. Moreover, the researcher suggest to the teacher should understand what students need and use video as recommended media in teaching speaking skill especially when discussing procedure text.
