The Structure Of Morphology Of Malay In West Kalimantan

Morphology is the study of words and theirs structure. Morphology discusses about of word itself, word formation and how the are combined. In this study, the researcher tried to describe the morphological process such as affixation, reduplication, compound word. The researcher chose to discuss affixation only.
The objective of this study was to describe the process of affixation of Singkawang Malay. The researcher interested to describe the affixation of Singkawang Malay because that language was very popular in Singkawang city but uncommonknownin other cities. The researcherwould like to introduce this affi xationprocess of Singkawang Malaywas knownto be moreother citiesandenrichthe knowledgeof otherlocal languages.
The design of this study was descriptif qualitatif because this study tried to describe the affixation process.The source data were from dictionary and Singkawang Malay folklore. The main instrument of data collection are human as instument, mobile phone and card system.
Based on the finding of the research, Singkawang Malay has two kinds of affixation, namely prefix and suffix. The result of the study showed that there wereseven prefixes which was found by the researcher in Singkawang Malay from the dictionary and folklore, those were; /be-/, /di-/, /ke-/, /pe/, /te-/, /se-/ and nasal and there were three suffixes, those were: / -kan/, /-an/, /-ek/.Each prefix and suffix were discuss one by one related to the form, function and meaning of each of therm after attached to each other with word that is behind it.
The researcher suggested for the readers to not only able to learn about analysis of the affixation process, but also able to take the knowledge of the affixation process especially in Singkawang Malay. For the learners are able to enrich their knowledge to deep understand about the affixation process especially for University Student as the researcher. Also suggested for the future researcher can take the thesis for their reference to doing the analysis about the affixation process especially about their language.
