Improving Students' Vocabulary Competences By Using Music Technique AT TK Sabana Of Blitar
Language is one of communication devices for human, and English is the most popular language. Nowadays learning English for young learners are popular in Indonesia. Then, it encourages some school to teach English for their students. The most important thing to start learning English is vocabulary, without having enough words the students are not able to speak up well. There are many techniques in teaching and learning English for young learners. One of the techniques is using music.
At the kindergarten, students usually listen to music of song and they sing the song together. As at TK Sabana Blitar also has English subject for students, the researcher would like to improve the students‟ vocabulary by using music technique.
The aim of the research is to describe that using music technique can improve vocabulary competences of TK Sabana students in Blitar. The research design used by the researcher in conducting this thesis was classroom action research (CAR). This method consists of four meetings in one cycle and conducts towards kindergarten students‟ of TK Sabana Blitar at class of B. The instruments of research are observation sheets, the results of students‟ competences, field notes and documentation.
The implementation of the research based on the scenario on the lesson plan. The result of the research shows that the students‟ vocabulary competences are improved during conducting the research from 41.02 to 94.87. Therefore the researcher should not continue to the next cycle. Music has some benefits such as, making students more active and creative, enrich the knowledge and making situation of class more enjoyable and fun. Improving students‟ competences by using music technique can be
conducted in the following ways a) showing pictures, b) asking students, c) listening song, d) singing, e) activating students by using games and crafting, and f) giving assessment. The researcher also hoped that after implementing the music technique for improving vocabulary competences at kindergarten level, the teacher more creative in designing teaching learning process, the students more active, focus and also brave in the class, and the further researcher could combine the music method with other skill.
