Character is the representation of a person is a narrative work of art (such as a novel, play, or film). Character is a participant in the story, and is usually a person, but may be any personal identity, or entity whose existence originates from a fictional, they are: Main character (major character), they have good and bad qualities. Main characters are the character that is emphasized in a story. This character always appears in almost each event, so it seems dominates in that story, either as subject or object. It also always has connection with another actor in a certain novel main character can be found in each page of the novel.while characterization is the way in which a writer makes a person in a book, film, or play seem like a real person or the way in which the character of a real person or thing is described in another word it can be state that characterization is Concerning to the characters and characterization the researcher of this study tried to find out the two main characters and characterization that also supported with the dialogue that is put from the novel “Where Passion Leads”.
The Problem in this study is “What are the main characters and characterization of Rosalie Belleau and Lord Randall Berkeley in novel “Where Passion Leads”?
The objective of the study is supposed to describe the character clearly and describe the characterization of main characters in novel “Where Passion Leads”.
The design of this study is was descriptive qualitative research because this study tried to describe the character and characterization in novel “Where Passion Leads”.
The result of this study can give the contribution to the readers that they are able to understand the content of the novel “Where Passion Leads” especially character and characterization that support the readers to comprehend well the content of the novel “Where Passion Leads”. The researcher suggested for the English Education Department students as the next researcher to analyze the other part of intrinsic element of this novel, which were not analyzed yet.
