Teaching Speaking Through Dialogue To The Eleventh Year Student A Case Study At SMA PGRI Lawang
This research paper is aimed at describing the process of teaching speaking throuh dialogue focussed on the curriculum, method and technique of teaching speaking, teaching media, and system of evaluation. The source of data is teaching learning process of dialogue technique at SMA PGRI LAWANG, and documents. In this research, the researcher does the classroom observation and interview to the English teacher.
Incollecting the data, the researcher focuses on dialogue, the teaching learning process, the students activities, the teacher’s and student’s roles, the teacher and student’s problem in teaching-learning speaking, and problem solving by the teacher in teaching speaking.
Based on the data analysis, the researcher finds that the result of teaching speaking by using dialogue at the eleventh year students of SMA PGRI LAWANG as follows: 1). The curriculum of SMA PGRI LAWANG especially at the eleventh level uses KBK. In KBK, the goal of teaching speaking is to gain the students to be
able to communicate in English on elementary level. Consequently, they can express various feelings or senses; 2). Method and technique of teaching speaking.
In teaching speaking the English tea cheruses Communicative approach and dialogue technique; 3). Media of teaching speaking. Media and very needed to successfull teaching learning process, so the English teacher of SMA PGRI LAWANG uses a blackboard and cassette (CD); and 4). System evaluation of speaking activities. To evaluate the students performance the teacher gives comments and mark, this way is very needed for a teacher to know the student’s capability and to make the lesson better. Therefore, the result of teaching speaking through dialogue is satisfying.
Finally, the researcher gave some suggestion to improve the quality of teaching and learning process. The suggestions are as the following: First, suggestion for the teacher. Second, suggestion for the students. The last, suggestion for the further researcher.
