Code Mixing Found In Hanum Salsabiela Rais “99 Cahaya Di Langit Eropa”

Code mixing is the use of two languages which are mixed or changed to other language in a single utterance. In this study, the researcher analyzed the code mixing occured in 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa by Hanum Salsabiela rais. And the researcher has three purposes, (1) To describe types of code mixing in “99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa” novel. (2) To describe kind of the reasons of the writer in using code mixing in “99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa” novel. (3) to describe the code mixing that is often used in “99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa” novel.
This study uses descriptive qualitative method because the subject of the study in the code mixing of 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa and the researcher analyzes only types and kinds of reasons code mixing. The researcher has instruments to collect the data; they are documentation, corpuses, and triangulation. Then, the data are analyzed using Hoffman’s theory types and the reasons of code mixing. In addition, Saville-Troike’s theory of reasons of code mixing is also used in this study.
The result of this study shown that in “99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa” novel, the researcher found three types of code mixing there are; Intra-Sentential, IntraLexical, and Involving a change of pronouncation . In “99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa” novel, it is found that intra-sentential is 62,20% data, intra-lexical is `7,8% data, and involving a change of pronouncation is 29,92% data. For the reasons here, the researcher found only six from nine reasons of code mixing. Those are;. talking about a particular topic, quoting some body else, Interjection, repetition used for clarification, to soften or strengthen request or command, and the last is because of real lexical.
Finally, the researcher hopes for the further researcher to complete this study to be perfect. And this research can help other researcher who wants to continue or conduct the similar research that occur in the article and the writer hopes the futher researcher can analyze code mixing in other in speech community.
