An Analisys Of Formal Links Used In The Nasreddin Short Story Of "The Wise Man"

Formal link is the different feeling to account discourse by looking the features outside and inside language, as leaving a meaning and unity for reader and listener. It is a part of discourse that is main door of discourse before entering the other short up the higher level of discourse. So the researcher chose formal link as the study because it is the first level to analyze discourse.
Formal link is devided into two types, contextual and formal. Contextual is formal link referring to the fact outside the language. It contains Pragmatic. Pragmatic is the relationship between signsand the people who use it. Formal link is referring to the fact inside the language that consists of verb form, parallelism, referring expression, repetition, substitution, ellipsis and conjunction.
This study used descriptive qualitative research in which the researcher just described the result of implementation from the instruments. The object of this study wasformal link and the subject was short story book of “Nasreddin the wise man”by Sugeng Harianto. The instrument used in this study was the researcher himself. The analysisof data included studying and reading theory, comprehending the data, and analyzing the short story book.
The analysis was taken from six titles they were (1)A Face on the Window, (2) Fate Is Not Logical ,(3) Dividing Heritage,(4) Quarrel in the Bed, (5) Don’t Be To Deep, (6) Pease, Eat, Coat by Sugeng Harianto. It was found that dominant formal link used in short story book of “Nasreddin the wise man”were parallelism and conjunction. They involved tenses parallelism, and adjective parallelism,and they also involved temporal conjunction, additive conjunction and causality conjunction. In order that readers will be motivated more to study discourse analysis, this study is contributed to the students of English enjoying analyzing the discourse analysis. Therefore, the researcher pruposes the following suggestion for the other researchers who might conduct the study on the same short story or the other media such as magazine, advertisement, news paper, song, and poetry.The researcher hopes the other researchers can make better analysis in the next study and the other researchers can share the result of their analysis to other researcher and can make this study to be the reference.
