English is familiar language in Indonesia, but however Indonesian still cannot use English well.It is because English is foreign language in Indonesia and it is only used in school as lesson. Besides, inappropriate teaching can be a problem for Indonesian especially students. English,especially reading is assumed as difficult subject in school. Moreover, Indonesians are typically lack of reading. It becomes a problem for teachers and students at school. Dealing with that problem, the teacher should be more creative covers the materials as interesting as possible.
The using of media is very recommended to enhance student’s motivation in reading activity. The researcher applied LCD projector as media in teaching reading because it helps students to achieve reading skill in meaningful and interesting context.Therefore, the researcher focused on the reading achievement. In this study the researcher used quasi-experimental research method. This design is used because to determine the effectiveness of using LCD projector on student’s reading English achievement at SDN Tumpakrejo 01. The objective of study is to know whether the students who were taught by using LCD projector have better score than students who were not taught by using LCD projector. The instruments were used in this study are observation checklist, interview, test, and documentation. The reading test was done twice those are pre-test and post-test.
Based on the data analysis, the result of computation statistical by using SPSS 16.0 version showed that the mean score of experiment group was higher than the mean score of control group (85.00 > 74.62). The significant level showed was higher than the critical value of t-test 0.05 (0.812 > 0.05). It means that the using of LCD projector has significant effect on student’s reading achievement. It seemed from the students who were taught by using LCD projector have better score than students who were not taught by using LCD projector. Considering the result above, it is suggested for English teacher to use LCD projector in teaching reading so that the students can achieve the goal of the material. Besides, the using of media in teaching and learning activity is very important to support and create the attractive condition in conveying the lesson. For the students, it is expected to improve their ability in English especially reading skill, because reading is one of the important skills in learning English. Then, the researcher hopes to other researcher, the next research wouldbe better than this study on teaching English by using LCD projector for different point of view.
