The Influence Of Quick Hint In Teaching Students Speaking Skill At Wira Angkasa Academy Malang
Language is one of the most important things in communication and it is used as a means of communication among the nations in all over the world. English is one of the most skills that is considered as a must effort to increase education. The purpose of learning is in order that the students can participate in short communication, to give and answer the question. Yet, sometimes students get difficulties, for example, they feel hard to speak up because there is no vocabulary enough in their mind.
Due to that problem, we had a solution to solve the problem, they are given the easy method to increase their ability in speaking. The method is used “Quick Hint” at Wira Angkasa Academy Malang. The way is only comprehending and understanding the kinds of structure or pattern sentences to make easier students for making questions and answer as the opening of creating the conversation.
The research design used in this study is a quasi-experimental because the researcher will decide the experimental and the control group through his own willing based on the criteria of suitable class. The instruments of the study were used namely observation, test, interview, questionnaire, and documentation. Observation was conducted to know how English teacher conducted speaking class before the researcher conducted Quick Hint and to know how far the students can increase their speaking by using Quick Hint. After that, the researcher conducted Pre-Test and Post-Test to both of classes. The result was shown, namely the mean score of the experimental group was 66.6, while the mean score of control group was 64.5, and in the result of post-test, the mean score of the experimental group was 80.6, while the mean score of the control group was 68.6.
Besides, Independent sample of t-test by using SPSS ver. 16.0, the sig. 2tailed score was 0.000 and it was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that there are some differences between the steward and the stewardess students who have already been given Quick Hint in speaking ability at Wira Angkasa Academy Malang and before it is given.
Furthermore, from those data the researcher can conclude that Quick Hint was more effective than the conventional technique to be used in teaching speaking skill at Wira Angkasa Academy Malang, and this concept can be used as a consideration in increasing the teaching learning process of speaking skill.
