Improving Students' Vocabulary Mastery Through Word Walls Strategy For The First Grade Students Of SMK NU Bululawang
English language is an important thing in communication. Through language people can share anything they want, feel, even they thought. In communication, people deliver their information by using sentence or utterance. When students want to say something they should know the correct word to say the right purpose. This context, the researcher wanted to investigate the use of word wall and discuss about the method at SMK NU Bululawang.
This study aimed at improving students’ vocabulary mastery through word wall strategy. In applying this strategy the researcher applies in classroom action research. The objective of the study is to describe how word wall strategy can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. Then the subject of this research is the first grade of SMK NU Bululawang which consist of 4 male and 31 female students. The results of the study were as the following. The average score on the preliminary study was 73.12 and it is only 60% of the 35 students who gained 75, and the rest did not past the criteria of success. In the research cycle, it can be seen in the table of the previous chapter that the students who gained the criteria of success increased up to 82.85% from 60% before. It means that word wall can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. At last, this research could have benefit to the teacher and other researcher. For teachers, word wall is a game that can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery; it is recommended to avoid the monotonous situation of the class and also to make students active in the class. This study is recomended for other researcher who wants to use word wall as the technique in teaching the students. This technique can be a source of information to the researcher to decide the research.
