An Analysis of Character Changing of The Main Character in William Shakespeares Drama Entitled Macbeth

Drama is one of the literary works which expresses feeling and sense through the act. Drama usually is called by Plays. Drama combines the use of language with representational arts involving scenery, costuming, and the actor’s appearance. Drama does not only provide entertainment but also contains the values of life. This study is an analysis about human characters, especially about the changing character. People have their own reason to direct and active behavior even, the people undergoes the changing on their character because they want to reach their goal. The purpose of the study is to describe the changing characters of the main character. And to find out the factors that influenced the character of main character changing.
The writer used descriptive qualitative research as a method of her study because the data are the in the form of utterances in written words and they are analyzed descriptively. The procedure of collecting data involved several steps. First, reading the drama script written by William Shakespeare. Second, selecting the dialogues dealing with the research problem. The researcher also has procedure of data analysis, there are analyzing the dialogues that show the changing character of the main character, analyzing the factors that influence Macbeth’s character changing, and making conclusion based on the analysis. From the result of the data, it can be concluded that there are three persons that influence Macbeth character changing, they are: Three Witches, Lady Macbeth, and Macduff. All of them are the persons around him. The researcher also concludes that the character of person a can be influenced by people, setting, environment, and the person own self.
